This year my team and I didn’t pass out our normal goodie bags throughout the holidays because we were saving those funds for something HUGE…we usually do some fun gifts, but really…who needs a bottle of wine right now when so many people in our community can’t afford their next meal?

I had been feeling overwhelmed leading up to the holidays, unsure how I could really help our local community and people in need, but then I discovered Bridgepoint through a friend, and am so grateful we were able to support them during this critical time of need. 2020 has had more suffering in the past 6 months than the past 6 years combined so we felt an incredibly strong desire to help local community members. Learn more about what I mean and watch my video here.

In order to express our gratitude to everyone who has helped us achieve our goals this year, we’ve made a donation on your behalf to Bridgepoint in Southwest Detroit. This donation helped feed over 100 people this holiday season and we plan to make this a regular occurrence. Bridgepoint works to enhance the lives of children and their families in a targeted area of southwest Detroit who have been directly impacted by the pandemic. Many of these families and households are food insecure, so this donation made sure they had something to eat over the holidays. However, there’s still so much more work that can be done.

My next challenge is on all of you realtors reading this — Use the money you would spend on “holiday gifts for clients or colleagues” and give that back either before 2021 or in Q1 to a charitable organization of your choice. If you also wish to support Bridgepoint, then that would be amazing too! However, my goal is to encourage everyone to give back what they can so we continually support the people in our communities who need it most.

Do you know of an organization that I should feature or support next? Or do you have a story about giving that I could share? DM me on Instagram and let me know!

If you end up supporting a non-profit, please also give me a heads up if I inspired you so & let’s keep this movement spreading! :)

XOXO-Erica ❤️
